Nude on Stool

Original Antique French Pencil Drawing: A seated nude model drawn in pencil and framed under glass. The work was signed by Serge Henri Moreau (1892-1963). A refined and minimalist sketch in the academic tradition of nude studies, Moreau used only two colors for this work: blue for the subject and red to note his perspectives and his movement.
Moreau was a French painter and lithographer; a pupil of Cormon and J.P. Laurens.  His work was exhibited at the Salon d'Automne, 1919; at the Société Nationale, 1920; and at the Independents in 1922 where he exhibited La femme blonde (a nude) and Démolition des Fortifs in 1924. He was one of the founders of the Salon des Tuileries
