Original oil painting from France: 1800's oil painting on wood panel with a beautiful frame. This refined painting has a rich palette of grays and camel browns. The style is specific to the impressionists. A sweet melancholy emerges from this work.
Signed Paul Sébilleau (1847-1907) and dated 1901. Paul Sébilleau comes from a distinct class of Bordeaux landscape painters who were influenced by Corot and Courbet. The Gironde, Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, and the Dordogne were Sébilleau's favorite subjects. Sébilleau was widely celebrated and exhibited in Parisian salons, Bordeaux and in the USA.
