A composition with varying textures and thickness of paints, this still life plays with the layers of material, from the tapestry background, to the ripe fruits and smooth vase. The thickness and brilliance is calculated on the fruits, with realistic reliefs and shapes. Janger used the light to highlight the apples and bring them into focus, in the center of the complex green fabric with motifs. The shadows and reflections of the vase also reveal the mastery of light and perspectives from this experienced painter.
