Apples & Pears
20th-century oil on mounted canvas, on hard carton in a modern Louis XIII style frame.
A charming still life with fruits, featuring two pears and five apples, perched on the edge of a surface. The pale ones on the left give off a lovely light that fades gently as the gaze travels right. Supported by the grainy appearance of the fruit, the paint appears thicker than it actually is. Deliberately imprecise, the contours give a hint of Impressionism.
This treatment gives the scene a singular vitality. More than a simple representation, it's a lively, sensitive interpretation of shape and color.
A modernist influence is also present, where the truth of the medium counts as much as the subject. A warm scene, both decorative and expressive.
A work that will easily find its place in a contemporary or classic interior.
