19th-century oil on hardboard, signed (illegible) lower right, presented in an old Barbizon frame in wood and gilded stucco with laurel frieze and acanthus leaf ornamentation.
The painting depicts a couple walking through a garden, away from tall houses. Trees are in bloom, fence posts lean irregularly, and the rolling sky introduces a sense of openness. The composition balances structure and looseness, with the figures small against the movement of foliage and clouds.
A restrained yet expressive view, further enhanced by the depth and presence of its substantial Barbizon frame.
