Vétheuil

Vintage oil painting: French School of the 20th-century oil on wood panel signed lower left (illegible) and located on the back in the village of Vétheuil, near Paris. The work presents texture on the vegetation and the path in the distance.

A small Impressionist format representing a view of Vétheuil. The light is subdued, as if fading, and the work has a real depth and a very authentic palette.

About the village of Vétheuil: Claude Monet regularly stayed in Vétheuil. He painted more than 150 of his works and lived permanently in the village between 1878 to 1881. But the owner ended up expelling him from the house where he lived with his wife Camille Doncieux (1847-1879). Camille Doncieux was his first wife and muse, she died at the age of 32 and (1847-1879) was buried in the Vétheuil cemetery.
