19th-century oil painting on canvas signed Prilleux (19th & 20th century) in the lower right corner, presented in a late 19th-century Louis XVI-style giltwood frame.
A lovely still life composed of a cut pear, a ceramic lidded pot, and a little knife placed on a white cloth. The ensemble is simply captured, with a stable, centered composition.
The dark background highlights the objects and their textures. The fruits are painted with care, in a warm, realist palette. The treatment of the pot and the knife's handle brings a clean contrast, balancing the whole.
