20th century oil painting on wood panel, unsigned, study of "Le Chemin de Sevres" by Corot. Painters often studied famous works by masters to perfect their craft and left them unsigned in honor of the original artist.

A romantic and peaceful composition, where the oil paints have been so carefully applied that the brushstrokes are nearly invisible, creating a soft, almost pastel-like effect. A man on horseback and a woman on foot approach one another along a wide country path. Though the path is broad, their convergence feels intentional, an encounter just about to unfold.

On either side, the lush countryside stretches out beneath a pale blue sky with beautifully painted clouds. The simplicity and serenity of the scene make it a gentle and timeless addition to any collection, especially as part of a landscape wall. The antique wood and stucco frame is original to the early 20th century.

The painting has a few areas where paint is missing, most notably along the lower edge on the left side. The frame shows signs of age, with some missing molding and corner repairs.
