Cour Fleurie

20th-century oil painting on wood panel signed Launay (20th century), in the lower left. The work is titled "Cour Fleurie"(Flowering Courtyard) on the reverse, written in pencil.

A spring landscape depicting a dense orchard erupting in blooms of flowers, flanking a gentle path leading to a stone farmhouse. The whole scene is illuminated, with sun casting the flowers in a pearly white, sprinkling color across the grass and path, shining the thatched roof house in pinks and beige.

The paint is generously applied, with visible, structured and fairly thick brushstrokes, particularly in the treatment of the foliage and flowers.

A work with a soft atmosphere, characteristic of early spring, created by a skilled artist and reminiscent of country homes all over France.
