£526.00

20th-century oil painting on hardboard, signed lower right E. Legros for Émile Legros (1883–1979).

A charming village scene viewed from a gently tilted perspective, where the composition draws the eye beneath houses that seem to lean softly toward the winding path. Billowing clouds echo the delicate pastel tones of the façades and trim, while a glimpse of the countryside appears around the bend, inviting the viewer further into the landscape.

The technique is carefully controlled, with consistent brushwork throughout the composition. The compact, confident strokes are subtly textured in places, creating a smooth and harmonious pictorial surface while preserving a pleasing sense of movement.

The attractive twisted wood and stucco frame beautifully complements the painting, its warm tones pairing naturally with the soft palette.
