La Pêche

This oil painting on hardboard, dating from the early 20th century, depicts a peaceful river bordered by dense vegetation. On the left bank, a fisherman stands by the water, almost hidden among the trees. Wearing a blue jacket and a cap, he blends into the surrounding shades of green. Only his silhouette and fishing rod, with its line extending discreetly in front of the trees, reveal his presence.

The painting stands out for its fine execution, with precise, slightly textured brushstrokes. The patina of age adds a subtle sheen to the surface, bringing the foliage to life and creating the impression of natural light filtering through the trees.

The sky, filled with gray clouds, suggests an overcast day. Its soft light is echoed in the reflections on the water, creating a beautiful balance throughout the composition. The scene conveys a calm, contemplative atmosphere, where the discreet presence of the fisherman enhances the feeling of a moment suspended in time, in harmony with nature.

The painting is presented in an antique wooden frame with gilded and black moldings, whose warm tones subtly enhance the composition without drawing attention away from the artwork.
