He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Liège under Évariste Carpentier and Adrien de Witte before continuing his training in Paris in the studio of Fernand Cormon.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBetween 1902 and 1909, he lived in Paris, where he encountered several leading avant-garde artists, including Amedeo Modigliani and Albert Gleizes.
