Loing River

$2,200.00

20th century French School oil on canvas (large-scale) signed by Carlos Reymond (1884-1970) and representing the edge of the Loing River, a tributary of the Seine. The work is smooth to the touch.

A luminous and mastered work, this painting plunges the edge of the river into a bath of light. With precision, Reymond details the reflections on the water which gives dynamism to a calm scene, full of poetry. The colors are in complete agreement with the natural tones of the southern shores.

About the artist: Carlos Reymond was a French painter born in Paris on November 16, 1884 and was renowned for his shoreline landscapes. He specialized in scenes of southern France and traveled extensively looking for the right colors to echo the work of his friends, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Henri-Edmond Cross, and others... Carlos Reymond was renowned for his conviviality and friendship—not looking for glory, but for life. He was discovered by critics in the early 1970s and was recognized for an authentic palette and Impressionist spirit.
