Summer Harvest

Antique oil landscape: French school of the 20th-century oil on wood panel signed Edmond Quinton (1892-1969) in the lower right and dated 1923. A plaque with the artist's name is attached to the frame, along with his year of birth (1892) and the date of the work (Summer 1923). The panel has beautiful textural reliefs.
This landscape shows the haystacks beloved by the Impressionists. The natural light is perfectly balanced. The palette is very realistic and the Venetian yellow and wheat shades match perfectly with the gilded carved wooden frame.

About the artist: Edmond Quinton (1892 - 1969), was a Norman impressionist painter, who primarily painted the scenes of daily Normandy life around 1920-1930. He came from a line of naturalist painters and was trained by his painter father, Clément Quinton. He also introduced his son to drawing, engraving and oil paintings.

Later, Edmond Quinton specialized in Impressionist landscapes, where he celebrated the French countryside from Vaison-la-Romaine ( Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) to the rocky coasts of Brittany, passing through the diversity of Alsace and the Normandy region, always with a varied rich palette and in harmony with careful light work.
