The Pond

Fine art from France: Oil painting on wood signed Paul Sébilleau (1847-1907) and dated 1903. A work with clean lines, there is a farmer visible at the edge of the pond, alongside a cow who stands in the water. A beautiful light is distributed under the veil of a sunset behind the steeple of the church.
About the artist: Paul Sébilleau is part of the class of Bordeaux landscape painters who were influenced by Corot and Courbet. The Gironde, Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, and the Dordogne were his favorite subjects. Sébilleau exhibited in Parisian salons, Bordeaux and in the USA.
