The Feathers
A decorative and detailed study of peacock feathers on heavy stock artist paper, rendered in watercolor, gouache, and pencil in the Art Nouveau style. The artist carefully observed and painted individual plumes, capturing the subtle differences in structure and the shifting iridescence of blues and greens that form the eye of each feather. Look closely to see how color is layered and controlled to evoke the softness and shimmer of overlapping feathers within the larger train.
A penciled border frames the composition as a formal study. The work is signed in the lower right and dated '13 for 1913. A minimalist glass frame would complement the piece while offering lasting protection.
