A 20th-century oil painting on canvas signed Jean René Bellecour (1874–1955) and dated 1908.

A charming open landscape, bathed in late afternoon light, where the sky dominates the composition. The clouds are painted with lightness, appearing almost transparent. Jean René Bellecour achieves beauty with light and the glow of the sun in the trees. The contrast between the intense blue of the sky and deep green of the field brings a pleasing visual intensity, while remaining balanced.

Jean René Bellecour, a painter active in the first half of the 20th century, the son of the illustrator and artist Étienne Prosper Bellecour, is known for sensitive landscapes in impactful palettes. His work was shown several times in Paris in the 1920s and 1930s.

A graphic, colorful scene in harmony with its imposing gilded wood frame with marquetry.

The work will easily find its place in a contemporary or classic interior.
