Rue du Sud

20th-century French School oil painting on wood. The work is signed (illegible) in the lower left corner and has a textured feel.

This large-scale painting depicts a village scene on wood, showing a road winding through a group of stone houses. The colors and landscape resemble Provence. The artist used loose, quick brushstrokes to create this piece. In the lower right-hand corner, figures appear to be engaged in domestic work, with the closest woman rolling out linen.

The piece has pinprick holes along its corners and outer edges. There is a small hairline crack on the lower edge and some minor age marks.
