A beautiful watercolor on heavy stock artist paper. This portrait of a French rooster shows a proud bird, in a style that you can imagine representing "best in show." The artist used a restrained, almost dawn or dusk-like palette, and emphasized the drape and colors of the feathers over details and specifics. That said, one leg is detailed in pencil, and the entire paper is framed in pencil, as though marked out for a study.
This lovely work is presented under glass, bearing the artist’s studio stamp in the upper right and signed by the artist on the reverse. The green matte lining adds a modern touch.
