The Dutch Village

Magnificent impressionist style oil painting on stretched canvas from Belgium, signed Louis Deraymaeker(1905 - 1976) dated 1953.

Louis was part of the Flemish school, and was born in Vilvorde, near Brussels, in 1905. He was a pupil of Henry Duquennoy and Constant Leemans. He exhibited regularly in the capitol and he was a member of the "Portaels à Vilvorde" circle, where he exhibited from 1928 to 1971. He died in Dortmund in 1976.

This is one of our rare paintings which does not come from France. The painting represents a Flemish village on a sunny day with a bright wild sky. The texture forms a gradient, and the clear blue sky is filled with light, contrasting the sober browns of the village.
