Brittany
20th-century oil painting on wooden panel, signed Yves Tellec (20th century) in the lower right.
A post-impressionist coastal view centered on a house, with the sail of a moored boat and the line of the horizon visible in the background against a bright blue sky. The foreground depicts three women in traditional Breton dress.
The oil is applied in thick, highly visible impastos, giving the work a sculptural quality, likely achieved with a palette knife technique. The women's bright dresses are voluminous domes of paint. The vegetation is painted in naive strong strokes, creating a modern and bright effect.
The more modern wood and stucco frame, with a velvety finish, integrates easily into a contemporary setting. The work has been recently reframed by an art framing workshop in Tours (label on the reverse).
