La Butte aux Chênes

Antique oil painting from France: French watercolor under glass titled "La Butte aux Chênes", signed Ch. A. Gautier and dated 1907. A delicate work made of light, subtle lines. We can see an adult and a child in this animated rural scene. The mint and ivory pastel palette adds a touch of poetry to this piece, which's mounted on a robust wooden and stucco frame with discreet gilding.

• Condition: The watercolor has small clear copper spots scattered across the surface, from age. The frame which seems to be from the period is in an incredible state of conservation despite a lack in the left inner corner of the frame (0.3 ") and another in the outer right corner (0.7") and one small linear chipping end of the gilding in the upper right corner of the frame (1.5 ").
