20th-century French School oil on wood panel signed René Frédéric Ricard (1889-?) in the lower left. The work is smooth to the touch.
A view of a forest and lake with a hyper-realistic representation of light. The illuminated areas are in harmony with the vegetal relief in the foreground. The light grows on the lake and its surroundings, creating a beautiful depth to the view.
About the artist: René Frédéric Ricard was a French Divisionist and Impressionist artist born October 15, 1889 in Paris.
He traveled extensively in Europe where he primarily painted luminous landscapes. He made a name for himself painting female portraits in Africa using the Divisionist (neo-impressionist) approach.
He became a member of the Society of French Artists where he presented a large number of works over his lifetime.
