Autumn Walker

Original French painting: French school of the nineteenth-century oil on canvas signed Ernest Auguste Le Villain (1834 - 1916). The panel has texture at the level of the foliage.

A landscape with a beautiful harmony of ochre brown and amber tones. The light is well balanced and goes perfectly with the wooden frame and gilded stucco. This impressionist landscape includes a man walking with a pole, or maybe a rake. The character is almost completely melted into the autumn scene.

About the artist: Ernest Auguste Le Villain (1834 1916) was a Parisian painter and member of the Society of French Artists. For the art history lovers, he was also a close friend of Camille Corot, Eugène Boudin and Stanislas Lépine. The three were important advisors to him throughout his artistic career. Le Villain primarily painted landscapes with balanced palettes and abundant light. He exhibited for the first time at the Paris Salon in 1870, and then continued as a regular participant. After his death in Paris in 1916, he bequeathed the sum of 25,000 francs to the Taylor Foundation to help painters in need. Alphonse de Rothschild donated the paintings "Automne" and "Fin de Moisson" to French municipal museums.
