20th-century French School oil on wood panel. Still life signed Maurice Ferdinand Perrot (1892-1974). On the back is the address of the painter's former studio at 130 Boulevard Brune in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. The work has texture to the touch.

A complex composition with a strong chiaroscuro imprint. The realism of the shadows and reflections add to the Impressionist approach and offer a captivating and graphic result where the surplus of material seems to sublimate the subject.

About the artist: Maurice Ferdinand Perrot was a painter, engraver and French lithographer born in Verneuil Seine-et-Oise (near Paris) in 1892 and died in 1974. He trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and learned to play with the volume of materials and vivid palettes. His classic and colorful style helped him gain prominence as a Parisian portraitist and a place at the Salon des Artistes Français where he was a member starting inw 1923.
