20th-century oil on canvas, signed lower right by F. Rougel (20th century).

A peaceful countryside landscape along the banks of a river or pond, where the foreground transitions from dark shrubs to dry grasses and wildflowers before giving way to the still water beyond.

The brushwork varies beautifully in texture, volume, and intention. The foreground combines passages of smooth paint with areas of generous impasto, while the vegetation and sky are treated with a similarly expressive surface. The weeping willow is rendered with freer, more energetic brushstrokes, creating a wonderful sense of movement and capturing the graceful character of its cascading branches.

The willow also serves as the focal point of the composition through the artist's sensitive handling of light. Brighter highlights and carefully observed shadows at its base naturally draw the eye, while the Impressionist influence is evident in the treatment of forms, textures, and the lively brushwork that animates the surface of the water.
