Antique Oil French Portrait: 19th-century French School oil painting on cardboard featuring a portrait of Marie Françoise Xavier de Michelet, made in 1831.
This small-scale portrait is created in the academic style. The wide lace hat and the hairstyle divided into two curled chignons on each side of the forehead bear witness to the eccentric hairstyles of the bourgeoisie of the time. The dark and light classic tones are asserted, and the gilding of the sculpted frame adds drama to this small work.
