The Sailboats

Antique oil marine seascape from France: Oil on canvas signed E.Viallate in the lower right hand corner.

The canvas has thicknesses and a granulated surface. This is a work with light tones and a piercing light. The reflections on the water and the movement are worked in a pure impressionist style. The red of the sails captures the shadows created by the setting sun. Reminiscent of a regatta in the South of France.
